About me

Hello! My name is Krystiana Caiati, I am from Long Island, NY. I am completing my dietetic internship with Sodexo, with a concentration in Critical Care MNT. I plan to promote wellness and chronic diseases prevention through nutrition intervention as a registered dietitian nutritionist.

As a Sodexo dietetic intern on Long Island, NY, I have had diverse learning experience. Mu primary hospital site Mount Sinai South Nassau, gave me the opportunity to focus on clinical, food service management, along with my concentration in critical care medical nutrition therapy (MNT). I was also able to spend time with my clinical nutrition manager (CNM) understanding the admin responsibilities with he director of the department. I chose the Sodexo dietetic internship because of their established rapport, knowing people who have worked with Sodexo, and because of their unique concentrations.

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition & Dietetics from CUNY Queens College in September of 2020. I received my Associates degree from Nassau Community College in May of 2013 in Liberal Arts and Sciences. My course work at Nassau Community College was a stepping stone to complete all my general education studies while I figured out the exact route I wanted to go. I wanted to study something I would enjoy doing and be passionate about.

From the time of graduating Nassau Community College, I worked different jobs but none of them I could see myself doing for the rest of my life. I enjoy working out, kickboxing, and eating healthy. In 2015 my gastroenterologist had diagnosed me with esophageal ulcers and told me to follow a Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) diet. During this time, I became more interested in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics. This opened my eyes to how food really affects the body and disease state. I applied to CUNY Queen College for the Fall 2018 beginning my journey to becoming a Registered Dietitian.

Looking Ahead

After completing the dietetic internship my short-term goal is to become a clinical dietitian in an acute care facility and specifically work with critical care patients. My long-term goal is to further my career in critical care medical nutrition therapy (MNT). I would like to obtain my Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) credential, specializing in critical care. I would like to focus on medical nutrition therapy and an overall wholesome and wellness approach to help patients heal.

Hobbies/ Interests

Aside from my internship, I enjoy spending my time exercising, cooking/baking and searching Pinterest for healthy and nutritious meal/snack recipes. One of my favorite recipes to make for a quick healthy snack is No Bake Energy Bites. These contain a perfect portion of sweetness, protein, carbohydrates and fats along with micronutrients plus, they are super simple to make. Visit the link below for the full recipe.
