Retail Marketing and Wellness Project

As a part of my Food Service Management rotation, I created, marketed and sold a special menu for hospital employees. The event featured sales of special menu items in honor of Black History Month. Along with staff I created a specialty menu  and a dessert item to be sold for lunch and dinner in the employee cafeteria. The event turnout was great and staff was excited to see new menu items. This was one of my favorite projects!

Nutrition Education Lessons

How to Become a Registered Dietitian was one of my favorite lessons, and I received great feedback from participants. We discussed the schooling, volunteering, and internship requirements for becoming a dietitian. We also discussed various types of jobs a dietitian can work in, and ways to start preparing now while in high school and things to do in the community. I enjoyed this presentation as it spread awareness about what a dietitian is and the many job opportunities available in the field of nutrition & dietetics.

Nutrition Data Base Assignment

The objective of this assignment is to enhance learning through the critical examination of current literature and to become familiar with reputable journals in the fields of clinical nutrition, food service management and community nutrition. I presented a patients assessment along with a related journal article to peers and advisors.
